Carhartt Lining Guide

One of the most important things to know the difference of when shopping for work wear is the difference in the types of lining. The Carhartt Thermal lining is perfect for 4 season wear, it’s warm enough after dressing in layers for the coldest winters, yet thin enough to be worn in the spring over a t-shirt. It’s a very soft, thin and comfortable lining made to be worn in all seasons.

Carhartt Fleece lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Thermal Lining. This lining is very lightweight because it’s made from 100% polyester fleece. The Carhartt Fleece lining is very similar to the Carhartt Thermal Lining, because it is made to be worn for 4 out of 4 seasons, comfortably. This lining is slightly softer, and more flexible then the Carhartt Thermal Lining and if layered properly it can be worn during the coldest winters. This is a great lining, if Fleece Lining you purchase an item with it that you know you’re going to use every day of the year.

The Carhartt Blanket lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Fleece lining, because it’s medium-weight insulation. This is the happy medium in the lining family, the middle child if you will. This lining is excellent for active work. If you’re working an entire day, while wearing this lining you will feel like you’re wrapped up in a flannel blanket; comfortable and warm. This is because the Carhartt Blanket lining utilizes a heavy flannel material. This lining is perfect for those cold days, where you forgot to put a thermal on underneath.

The Carhartt Quilt Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Blanket lining. This lining is great because it has the feel of a soft flannel shirt. However, because of its construction the Carhartt Red Quilt Lining is very thick, and great for keeping warm in the coldest environments. The Carhartt Red Quilt Lining is a heavyweight insulation consisting of soft flannel material quilted to heavy polyester filling. The best thing about this lining is, that’s its thick but not bulky. This way you will be able to function while staying very warm all day long.

The Carhartt Sherpa Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Red Quilt Lining. This lining is a white nubby, soft pile material that provides lots of warmth without being overly bulky. The reason that the Carhartt Sherpa Lining is so warm is because it’s made of 70% acrylic and 30% polyester material. The most important thing to know about the Carhartt Sherpa Lining is that it keeps moisture away from the skin to keep you dry all day. The polyester pulls the moisture in and the result is more comfortable, drier clothes.

Quilt Lining The Carhartt Flannel Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Sherpa Lining. The flannel lining is made of flannel, as the name indicated. Not just any flannel though, Carhartt’s most durable and thick flannel. This lining will ensure warmth no matter what temperature or environment you’re working in. This lining is quilted to a layer of polyester insulation for extra warmth. The Carhartt Flannel lining is one of the softest and comfortable linings Carhartt has to offer. It’s also the 2nd thickest lining Carhartt makes.

The Carhartt Arctic-Grade Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Flannel Lining. The Carhartt Arctic-Grade lining is the thickest lining that Carhartt offers its customers. This lining is made for going on expeditions in the Arctic. You will not even feel the cold, while working outside if you purchase the Arctic-Grade lining. This is also one of Carhartts most popular linings, for obvious reasons. The Carhartt Arctic-Grade lining is made from nylon taffeta Sherpa Lining material which is quilted to a layer of high loft polyester. This lining is perfect for activities, like 6 A.M hunts in the Rockies, or just for working in a miserable climate, like most workers have to face.

Hopefully this guide is going to help you in making your next decision on which Carhartt lining is appropriate for you. Just remember, they all have their purposes, and it’s not a bad idea to get one really thin lined item, and one Arctic or Flannel lined item. It’s always good to be prepared. I always say it’s better to have a jacket and not need it, then to not have a jacket and need it. The same thing goes for lining.

My Favorite Carhartt Item

Anyone that wears Carhartt on a daily basis has one item that is their absolute favorite. If you’re like me, you wear this item almost any chance you get. It has become your most reliable garment, and you really want the world to see it every day. It’s been there through the really tough times, and even through the good times. My personal favorite Carhartt is the J182 Men’s Active Jacket.

This is my favorite item for a series of reasons. I have owned a lot of jackets in my time. A lot of different brands, and I have tried to find something that could trump my J182. Nothing to date has even come close in succeeding my Carhartt Active Jacket. When it rains, or it snows the first thing that I think is “I get to wear my active jacket today!”. This jacket has been courageous through the years, fighting the elements to keep me safe and dry. It took some time, but it slowly became my favorite Carhartt item. I have owned this specific Carhartt Jacket for more than 2 years, and it looks like I just bought it yesterday.

My favorite element about the J182 is that it can be worn through every season. It has a thermal lining, and if layered properly it can keep you warm during even the coldest winters. This jacket is 100% water resistant so when it’s raining or snowing hard I can’t even tell. Most jackets I’ve owned in the past have soaked up the rain or snow, causing a wet mess. The J182 reflects the water off of its shell keeping me dry all day.

This Jacket can be used while working on the job site, but it’s so functional that it can be used for casual wear as well. Some Carhartt clothing you wouldn’t dare wear to a fancy dinner, or the movies but this is one of the exceptions. It’s a sleek black color, and it looks business-casual when it’s zipped all the way up. I actually wore the J182 over my tuxedo, when my best friend got married. It sounds bizarre, but it was complimented so well that I wouldn’t consider wearing a different jacket.

Carhartt is the most popular work wear brand on the planet. Argue with me if you want, but numbers and statistics don’t lie. It’s no wonder to me why they’re the most popular. They spent so much time developing a way to form a reputable reputation. This kind of reputation doesn’t happen overnight. That’s saying a lot, for a company that shines in producing work wear but is transitioning into casual wear. Where they really excel is in the variety of High Visibility Clothing they produce.

Today’s world is a world filled with colors, and Carhartt was ahead of the game when they started producing their high visibility clothes. While making the line, they didn’t expect to see adolescents around the world wearing the bright lime, and orange clothing that was made for one purpose, standing out. That’s the thing about Carhartt; it’s so universal that it surprises even them when the demographic fluctuates.

The High Visibility Clothing was created so that workers could work outside safely, comfortably, and visibly. They have an array of items, from t-shirts, pants, and vests with bright colors and silver reflective tape. Today’s fashion is headed in this direction; people are getting to a point where they want their shirt to match their sneakers. As hard as that can be sometimes, Carhartt is sometimes worn for this reason.

Who honestly saw the day that teenagers and road workers would be dressing alike. I don’t even think Carhartt can honestly say they saw this one coming. There is a lot of High Visibility Clothing options out in the world today don’t get me wrong, but the best is Carhartt. Carhartt started the High Visibility Line and all of its competitors jumped on the band wagon. The trend setter is Carhartt, and the generic brands are the competitors.

There are so many advantages to making the choice to buy a Carhartt. They are known for so many things, affordability, comfort, style, and authenticity. While shopping for Carhartt you will these advantages and more. They have a unique clothing line, unheard of most anywhere else. It’s a name that’s been around for more than 100 years, popular and known by just about anyone in the world today. Everyone from construction, plumbers and the red cross of America wears a Carhartt item.

The Carhartt High Visibility Line is great for workers, or fashion forward adults. You will stand out, and people will recognize you by your Carhartt. This is a catch 22, because you may not want to be recognized or stand out. Carhartt has plainer, traditional looking clothing if this is a serious problem.

But honestly who doesn’t want to stand out?

Carhartt has Clothing for Kids and Toddlers

Carhartt is a very popular brand all over the world, that’s no secret. All over the world if you look for it you will surely see people wearing Carhartt clothing; for work, for fashion, and for school. When I was going to school I was always wearing my J182 Carhartt jacket, or A18 Acrylic Carhartt Watchman’s hat. These items became part of my ensemble, and I wasn’t alone in the decision of wearing Carhartt to school. My entire graduation class started following my footsteps and started wearing Carhartt.

A lot of the patrons that I went to school with had little ones to take care of, as most of us do. When they saw how long lasting, comfortable, and cool Carhartt clothing was on them they decided that it might be beneficial to buy some Carhartt’s for their children, nieces/nephews and cousins. Soon there would be elementary and middle schools as rugged as the typical construction site.

It was no surprise to me that my peers decided to buy their relations Carhartt clothing. After all Carhartt does make a Kid’s line for a reason. The kid’s line is very impressive, and almost comparable to the same stuff that is available to adult men and women. You can find Bibs, coveralls, sweatshirts, t-shirts in sizes for even the smallest Carhartt supporter. They have a youth line, as well as a toddler’s line.

We all know that when kids play, they play rough. They come home dirty and stinking from that hard day’s work. Carhartt will keep them protected from even the roughest play, and will keep them matching mommy and daddy - A happy family, all wearing America’s favorite brand. What more can you ask for.

The New Carhartt Women’s Line

There was a time where women workers had absolutely no choice in the kind of work wear to use. This was not very long ago, and most of them had to purchase from the men’s line. The anatomy of women and men is very different. So naturally their work wear should demonstrate those differences. Because hard labor construction work is hard, more and more women were subjected to wearing their husbands Carhartt’s or purchase their own from the men’s line. This was not fair, and after a long time Carhartt understood how unfair it really was.

In 2007 Carhartt released its Women’s line. It was well over-due, but better late than never, right ladies. True, it has only been 2 years since they released their women’s line, but it’s becoming almost as big as the men’s every day. Carhartt is working every day to produce more and more women’s work wear products. So women can have the privilege that every worker has when purchasing Carhartt.

Since the line is so new not everything that is available to men workers is available to women, yet. Some of the products that Carhartt does make for women are coats, jackets, jeans, shirts, sweats, and vests. These items are all in complimentary colors, and sizes for the female working person. More and more women are taking advantage of this right to female work wear. The more women that buy Carhartt for women, the more Carhartt is going to realize how important it is. Then, one day hopefully soon all women can have the same variety that is available to men workers today.

Carhartt for women is a new adopted idea. But if you’re a female worker you know how important it is to be able to choose your own line of clothing. The bottom line is that if you plan on wearing this coat everyday for two years, it’s still going to be comparable to the day you first bought it. Besides titanium, I’m not sure that there is anything stronger then a Carhartt work coat. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started manufacturing space shuttles at NASA with the material Carhartt uses to make these work coats. I’m sure our advances on the great frontier would be exponentially better, if this actually happened outside of my imagination. Remember a Carhartt work coat is an investment in your future. You can spend some of your cold hard cash on a few different coats that might not last you a season, or you can go beyond that and purchase a Carhartt work coat. The choice is yours.

We’ve covered a lot of ground about shopping for a Carhartt work coat, not to say there isn’t more territory that could be covered.
