Shopping Online For Work Wear Vs. A Retail Store

It is now 2009, and there are more possibilities today than there have ever been. No one dreamed that at this time we would be able to send a combination of characters to make a message from one side of the world to the other (A text message). However, this is how all great ideas are formed. Inventors look at something that already exists and after careful research they improve upon the original invention. That’s why Morse Code has evolved into the text message. This is a very general idea, but it’s explosive in today’s world. My core reason for bringing this up is because the same idea about shopping existed, much like the Morse Code. There was a time where if you needed something you had to leave your house to get it. That is no longer the case today.

Crowded Outside a Store

There are so many advantages to shopping online vs. shopping at a retail store. The first and most important is the more availability in styles and sizes. When you go to a store you are subjected to decide what to buy based on what they carry. If they don’t have your particular size, or the style that you were really crossing your fingers for you sometimes don’t have a choice but to settle. No more! Being able to shop online, you have literally millions of stores that carry popular brands, each store carrying a different variety of that brand. While shopping online you really need to know what size you are in everything, because the one downfall to this is you can’t try it on before you buy it. You will find it’s much easier to purchase something and exchange it via the internet, then waiting in long lines to try something on anyways.

That brings me to my next point about shopping online vs. a retail store. There are no busy crowds you have to uncomfortably wade through. While shopping in the comfort of your own home the only people you will have to combat are your family. Shopping online can become an addictive thing, and you will sometimes find yourself on the net for a very long time. As opposed to shopping at a retail store, which when you get there you can’t wait to leave because of how much of an annoyance it can become. When shopping online you can wake up when you want, and shop whenever you want. The control is in your hands. No fighting of busy angry crowds or having to deal with pushy sales people. This is the future of shopping.

Shopping Online

My all time favorite part of having the luxury of shopping online instead of at a retail store is the scouting. When you are at a store you are forced to pay the price that the store feels is appropriate. Sometimes the price is way too high, but because you really need the product you are left with no choice but to purchase it at the outrageous price. While shopping online you are able to scout other stores prices, and make a decision from that stand point. Bottom line you don’t have to pay for something unless you think it’s actually worth it. You will find the best deals and sales just a click away.

I personally find shopping online much more relaxing then shopping in those busy crowded stores. There are some instances where you have no choice but to go shopping, we’re not at the point where we can purchase everything online- not yet. We are getting there though, and the faster you transition into this new idea the better off you will be. Start saving time and money by shopping online. There are a lot of other reasons that shopping online is more beneficial, but I’ll let you discover those on your own.

Carhartt Sponsorships

Carhartt Sponsorships Banner

As if Carhartt wasn’t great enough as it stands, they just keep amazing me. Carhartt proudly sponsors organizations that require the kind of clothing that they produce. They care about communities, and organizations. As a family owned company they understand how important unity really is.

This is just great.

FFA Logo

FFA

The first organization that they sponsor is the FFA (Future Farmers of America), Carhartt understands the hardships involved in farming, and becoming a farmer so they do their little part to help out. Carhartt has been a national FFA sponsor since 1997. They recognize improvement of the home, farm or the community through beautifying, modernizing, sanitizing or creating labor saving devices.

The National FFA organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.

This organization fits a Carhartt sponsorship very well.

Stihl Timbersports Logo

Stihl Timbersports Series

The second organization that Carhartt has been sponsoring for many years is the Stihl Timbersports Series. The Stihl Timbersports is a fierce competition that professional men compete in every year. There are a series of events that require agility, and skills with a chainsaw. They have to cut wood the fastest, or carve a wood block into pieces in a timeframe. Naturally this is something that would interest Carhartt, and they don’t only sponsor the competition, but the champion of the event also receives a Carhartt sponsorship.

Skills USA Logo

Skills USA

The third organization that Carhartt sponsors is one that has been around since 1965. Skills USA was founded in 1965 by both teachers and students. Carhartt has been recognized as an Official sponsor of Skills USA in 2000. They donate clothes, and host events for the members of Skills USA. Carhartt recently sponsored Skills Canada, to which they say they’re excited to see the bright future of that decision.

Skills USA is an organization that prepares high performance workers, and provides quality education experiences, for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. Their purpose is to build and re-enforce self confidence, work attitudes, and communication skills. All of which are important in the working world we all live in today.

NASCAR Logo

NASCAR

The most notable sponsorship that Carhartt has done is the number 17 car in Nascar. The #17 is driven by Matt Kenseth. Carhartt proudly sponsors the car and recently it paid off. The recent Daytona 500’s first place winner was Matt Kenseth while driving the sponsored number 17 Carhartt car. Carhartt is proud to be part of this event, as well as assist Matt Kenseth in building his racing career.

Carhartt is a very generous corporation. They take their time and money to help out things that matter to them. Youth, workers, entertainers, and Nascar drivers. They understand how hard it is to provide your message, and function without the resources necessary. Carhartt is giving all of these groups of people the opportunity to show them what they got.

I’m all for Carhartt sponsorship.

If you feel like your organization could be sponsored by Carhartt all you have to do is send your information to the following address:

Pros and Cons to Construction Work

Men Working Construction

Construction work can be a very rewarding career. It can also be a very dangerous career. These two things can go hand in hand, and not unlike most other careers there are advantages and disadvantages to doing construction work. Obviously the advantages outweigh the disadvantages or it wouldn’t be as popular a career as it is today. There are pro’s and con’s to every type of work, but this is one specific type of work I feel I should elaborate on in case someone is considering it.

Yes and No Buttons

Pros

The first thing you need to know about construction work is that you’re going to get paid very well. This is even more true if you join a local union and go into an apprenticeship program. Union workers are always paid better than their non-union counterparts. So if you want to get the most out of this career, look for a local union to join. Then find an apprenticeship program.

Another really great thing about working construction is that you’re going to get off of work relatively early. Unlike most office jobs where you’re cooped up in an office from 9-5, construction workers tend to get off of work in the early afternoon. Their shifts typically end around 1:30 P.M-2:30 P.M. This is ideal for getting home and avoiding rush hour. Construction workers can be at ease driving, or taking public transportation when they leave this early.

You are going to see new buildings and meet new people every day. If you’re the kind of person that considers themselves a go-getter this could be the perfect career for you; someone that is outspoken and a hard worker. Someone that enjoys seeing new things, and helping create new things that spring up from the ground. Consider this as a career option. This is one of my favorite pro’s to this type of work.

You don’t have to be dressed up every day. None of those uncomfortable buttons up shirts, with a different tie accenting them every day. Instead you can get away with wearing a ball cap, jeans, and a nice pair of work boots. This is ideal for someone who doesn’t mind getting dirty, because construction work is dirty and that needs to be understood.

Cons

Yes, it’s true as I said above that a pro is you get to leave work earlier then the 9-5’r. The reason being you get to work much earlier than the average worker. You can find yourself waking up at 3:30 A.M-5:30 A.M depending on what job you’re working on. So getting up early, and leaving early go hand-in-hand really.

Construction work is dangerous. This is my biggest con, and the one that everyone looking into this career needs to understand. There is a lot of blood on a construction site, and it can get very un-safe. The sites with 100’s-1000’s of guys rarely finish the job without one accident. This is a horrible part of this job, but it’s a realization. That’s why the work wear construction workers wear is very important. The gear is made to protect each worker from some of the worst accidents. Make sure if you’re doing this kind of work, that you have the proper work wear.

As you can clearly see, the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to this kind of work. You can balance both out but the pros will always win. If you think about it every job is dangerous, and there is potential for an accident. However, if you’re looking for a high-paying, fun, interesting career then you should consider doing construction work.

History Of Carhartt

Founder: Hamilton Carhartt

Born in the era of 1885 in Macedon Locks, New York was the creative Hamilton Carhartt. Being brought up near Southern Michigan, he showed his potential style at an early age by changing his family name. He added an additional “t” to ensure he would be recognized from other working professionals. To continue his goal to be successful Hamilton Carhartt initially started a furniture company, this directed him into creating his own goods.

Hamilton Carhartt came to realize his items had to be different, with some directed advice from his first possible customer. After a discussion with a railroad engineer, he made an article of clothing distinctively for railroad workers one which had never been developed . It all started in the year 1889 when Hamilton Carhartt began his industry and shortly began manufacturing work garments with one direct destination in mind: Set a list of distinction to which all others would conform to. It all started with only 5 workers and 4 sewing instruments, the original manufactured products were overalls in duck and denim materials. Mr. Carhartt took time and traveled from town to town and stopped at each railroad division, through this he was able to create a name for himself in the overall organization. With his conceptualized goal and hard work, Hamilton Carhartt worked on creating a company that is still achieving the test of time.

Hands down the most devastating effects on Carhartt was the 1920’s Depression which resulted in only 3 factories in the United States remaining after the year 1930. Hamilton and his son Wylie idealized an offensive that lead to the collective grand opening of the Irvine, Kentucky operations with the services of the population of the city of Irvine, Kentucky. This day and age all of Carhartt’s Manufacturing Administrative corporations are based in Irvine, Kentucky.

Continuing through the early 1900’s Carhartt established an astounding 17 plants and 3 mills throughout Europe, Canada, and the U.S. Carhartt’s slogan “From the mill to millions” is recognized in their operations which include cotton production, denim textiles and apparel manufacturing facilities.

In the year 1937 the notorious Hamilton Carhartt passed away at the distinguishable age of 82. Carhartt today is still a household owned operation committed to furnishing Best-in-Class clothing for the functioning trades person.

Carhartt Lining Guide

One of the most important things to know the difference of when shopping for work wear is the difference in the types of lining. One type of lining might be made for extreme cold temperature, and another might be made for a warmer work environment with a slight wind chill. Without being informed on the topic you can really leave yourself in a bad place. You don’t want to be caught wearing a thick lining like the arctic quilt lining during a warm spring day. The Arctic Quilt lining has been created for one environment as the name indicated; the arctic.

I’m going to demonstrate the differences in Carhartt linings, and explain what advantages and disadvantages each lining has. This way while purchasing a Carhartt product you’ll know which one’s appropriate depending on the work that you do.

Thermal Lining

The Carhartt Thermal Lining is the thinnest and least warm lining Carhartt makes. It has a thickness, and softness comparable to a Carhartt flannel shirt. This lining is perfect for keeping heat bottled inside, and keeping your body warm at all times. The Carhartt Thermal lining is perfect for 4 season wear, it’s warm enough after dressing in layers for the coldest winters, yet thin enough to be worn in the spring over a t-shirt. It’s a very soft, thin and comfortable lining made to be worn in all seasons.

Carhartt Fleece lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Thermal Lining. This lining is very lightweight because it’s made from 100% polyester fleece. The Carhartt Fleece lining is very similar to the Carhartt Thermal Lining, because it is made to be worn for 4 out of 4 seasons, comfortably. This lining is slightly softer, and more flexible then the Carhartt Thermal Lining and if layered properly it can be worn during the coldest winters. This is a great lining, if Fleece Liningyou purchase an item with it that you know you’re going to use every day of the year.

The Carhartt Blanket lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Fleece lining, because it’s medium-weight insulation. This is the happy medium in the lining family, the middle child if you will. This lining is excellent for active work. If you’re working an entire day, while wearing this lining you will feel like you’re wrapped up in a flannel blanket; comfortable and warm. This is because the Carhartt Blanket lining utilizes a heavy flannel material. This lining is perfect for those cold days, where you forgot to put a thermal on underneath.

The Carhartt Quilt Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Blanket lining. This lining is great because it has the feel of a soft flannel shirt. However, because of its construction the Carhartt Red Quilt Lining is very thick, and great for Blanket Liningkeeping warm in the coldest environments. The Carhartt Red Quilt Lining is a heavyweight insulation consisting of soft flannel material quilted to heavy polyester filling. The best thing about this lining is, that’s its thick but not bulky. This way you will be able to function while staying very warm all day long.

The Carhartt Sherpa Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Red Quilt Lining. This lining is a white nubby, soft pile material that provides lots of warmth without being overly bulky. The reason that the Carhartt Sherpa Lining is so warm is because it’s made of 70% acrylic and 30% polyester material. The most important thing to know about the Carhartt Sherpa Lining is that it keeps moisture away from the skin to keep you dry all day. The polyester pulls the moisture in and the result is more comfortable, drier clothes.

Quilt LiningThe Carhartt Flannel Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Sherpa Lining. The flannel lining is made of flannel, as the name indicated. Not just any flannel though, Carhartt’s most durable and thick flannel. This lining will ensure warmth no matter what temperature or environment you’re working in. This lining is quilted to a layer of polyester insulation for extra warmth. The Carhartt Flannel lining is one of the softest and comfortable linings Carhartt has to offer. It’s also the 2nd thickest lining Carhartt makes.

The Carhartt Arctic-Grade Lining is slightly thicker then the Carhartt Flannel Lining. The Carhartt Arctic-Grade lining is the thickest lining that Carhartt offers its customers. This lining is made for going on expeditions in the Arctic. You will not even feel the cold, while working outside if you purchase the Arctic-Grade lining. This is also one of Carhartts most popular linings, for obvious reasons. The Carhartt Arctic-Grade lining is made from nylon taffeta Sherpa Liningmaterial which is quilted to a layer of high loft polyester. This lining is perfect for activities, like 6 A.M hunts in the Rockies, or just for working in a miserable climate, like most workers have to face.

Hopefully this guide is going to help you in making your next decision on which Carhartt lining is appropriate for you. Just remember, they all have their purposes, and it’s not a bad idea to get one really thin lined item, and one Arctic or Flannel lined item. It’s always good to be prepared. I always say it’s better to have a jacket and not need it, then to not have a jacket and need it. The same thing goes for lining.

How to Layer Clothing Properly

Family Dressed in Layers of Carhartt

There are wrong and right ways to layer. If you understand how to layer you will be better off, then just making educated guesses on how to do it right. My goal is to have you understand by the end how to layer properly. If you understand this under-rated idea, you can save a lot of money. The reason behind this is because so many workers have spent money on items that they can’t even wear because the snow never falls, or if it does fall it’s for a very short time. If you invest your cold hard cash into more than one really thick jacket, and instead purchase a few thinner items that you can layer you will be better off in the long run.

When choosing your next work wear clothing you should always keep in mind the kind of environment you’re going to be wearing it in. If you’re in a moderate temperature all year round then you don’t’ necessarily need to purchase something that is really thick, but instead purchase a flannel shirt, and a thin sweatshirt. That way you will stay warm all day, and when the sun decides to come out you can just remove the sweatshirt. Once the sun goes behind the clouds, you will be able to just put the sweatshirt back on. This is the idea of layering, being able to comfortably and conveniently remove or add clothing.

Once you have the basics down you will have a much easier and better time shopping. I know way too many guys that spend their money on one really nice jacket, or pair of pants but they never get to see the light of day. Weather is very unpredictable, and instead of assuming it’s going to be really cold in December, assume that it’s going to be warm the rest of the year. If you prepare properly, when the time comes you will be able to layer your clothing flawlessly. You will know what outfit to wear based on the weather patterns you’ve been experiencing. That way you can be comfortable all day long.

Layering for Dummies

Layering is one of the most overlooked and underrated ideas when it comes to work wear. If you decide to layer your clothing and you do it properly you’re going to have much more relaxing work days. Once you get the habit down, you will be dressing appropriately everyday and you will be ready for anything.

My Favorite Carhartt Item

My Favorite Carhartt Item

Anyone that wears Carhartt on a daily basis has one item that is their absolute favorite. If you’re like me, you wear this item almost any chance you get. It has become your most reliable garment, and you really want the world to see it every day. It’s been there through the really tough times, and even through the good times. My personal favorite Carhartt is the J182 Men’s Active Jacket.

This is my favorite item for a series of reasons. I have owned a lot of jackets in my time. A lot of different brands, and I have tried to find something that could trump my J182. Nothing to date has even come close in succeeding my Carhartt Active Jacket. When it rains, or it snows the first thing that I think is “I get to wear my active jacket today!”. This jacket has been courageous through the years, fighting the elements to keep me safe and dry. It took some time, but it slowly became my favorite Carhartt item. I have owned this specific Carhartt Jacket for more than 2 years, and it looks like I just bought it yesterday.

My favorite element about the J182 is that it can be worn through every season. It has a thermal lining, and if layered properly it can keep you warm during even the coldest winters. This jacket is 100% water resistant so when it’s raining or snowing hard I can’t even tell. Most jackets I’ve owned in the past have soaked up the rain or snow, causing a wet mess. The J182 reflects the water off of its shell keeping me dry all day.

This Jacket can be used while working on the job site, but it’s so functional that it can be used for casual wear as well. Some Carhartt clothing you wouldn’t dare wear to a fancy dinner, or the movies but this is one of the exceptions. It’s a sleek black color, and it looks business-casual when it’s zipped all the way up. I actually wore the J182 over my tuxedo, when my best friend got married. It sounds bizarre, but it was complimented so well that I wouldn’t consider wearing a different jacket.

The basis of this post is to find out what your favorite Carhartt item is. Like I said above, anyone that has the luxury of wearing Carhartt has a favorite item. We want to hear what your favorite item is and why. Simply use the comment box at the bottom and tell us what your favorite Carhartt item is. I really want to know if someone else feels the same way I do about the J182.

The Advantages to Purchasing Carhartt

Carhartt has so many advantages, that it’s very hard to narrow them all down. It’s hard to pinpoint what makes Carhartt such a great brand without sounding script. I’m going to do my best to try though. I have been wearing Carhartt for so long that i can’t imagine choosing another work wear brand.

Hamilton Carhartt Banner

First and foremost Carhartt is, and has been family owned since 1889. Most companies in today’s world sell out for a quick sum of money when times get tough. Carhartt has been through trials, and tribulations since its beginning but it is still a popular family owned brand. Family owned has so much impact on today’s customer for a series of reasons. With the slogan “Hard at work since 1889” you know they’re serious about keeping it the way it is. Keeping it in the family for over 100 years is not easy. Carhartt has done it, and will continue doing it from what I can tell.

All of Carhartts products are made durable and to last. They are made from the best resources available to men. This will ensure long shelf life, and gives you the ability to wear their products daily. You can wear a Carhartt everyday of your life for 10 years, and it’s going to keep the same integrity it had when you first purchased it. I have actually had the pleasure of meeting people that can attest to this. I am honestly shocked when I see people wearing a Carhartt and when I ask them how long they’ve had it they say 8 years now. You honestly can’t tell the difference.

Besides excellent durability, Carhartt offers extreme comfort. Carhartt takes all of their products from a pair of gloves, to a pair of jeans, and a workers jacket as seriously as the next. All of Carhartts products are built to be worn for entire days out on the job. Carhartt knows the importance of being flexible, and comfortable while out working. They also know how important it is to look good while still being comfortable. This is the transition that separates Carhartt from any other clothing line out there right now.

Carhartt in Japan

Carhartt has a unique style, one that the Europeans and Japanese figured out long ago. In the time where Americans were wearing Carhartt for strictly working outside, people around the world saw an opportunity to wear comfortable clothes and to start a trend that would change the fashion world as we knew it, or thought we did at least. The Carhartt style is one of the most popular trends out right now, because of how many advantages you get when you shop Carhartt. You not only look like you know something about fashion, but you get to be comfortable all day.

For those cold days, you definitely want to have a Carhartt wrapped around you. They specialize in making the warmest clothing for the cold days ahead. Frigid, Frosty, or Freezing it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing Carhartt, it will feel like Miami.

These are the clear and concise advantages to shopping Carhartt over any other brand. There are a lot of brands in the world we live in today, but none have gone through the situations Carhartt has faced. Being around over 100 years has its advantages. There are many more advantages to shopping Carhartt.

New Carhartt

New Carhartt Banner

Carhartt is one of the leading clothing brands in the world right now for a series of reasons. To touch base on just a few of the things that make Carhartt exceptional is; style, price, durability, and unique look. One of the most ignored things about Carhartt is how they’re constantly designing and re-designing new items. Carhartt has the most serious design team for their clothing line, making sure they can maintain the reputation that they’ve spent years building.

Every article of clothing made by Carhartt goes through a series of testing before it’s released to the public. The designers go through a series of steps, and designs before they make a decision on what’s best for the customer. After they conclude that they have discovered the best possible design they send it to the factory.

The factory produces one proto-type of the design that they can evaluate and improve upon, before mass-producing it. They check every detail, from the zipper, to the button, even the feel of the fabric on the bare skin. They double check that every jacket is going to be made the same way, that way everyone will be fortunate enough to get the same excellent product. If there is a problem with the garment, they send it back to design and back to square one.

This little bit, is what has made Carhartt the name it is today. They put so much detail into every one of their products. They are a company that actually cares about what their customers think, and will re-evaluate any complaints a customer has about an item. They know that they’re not perfect, but they do the best they possibly can to keep everyone satisfied.

Now even though Carhartt has been around for so many years, they are still dropping new and stylish designs. If you keep up with their websites or catalogs, they have new stuff for every season. Most of which, is brand new designs that make any Carhartt supporter happy to see. Carhartt understands that fashion evolves, and they keep up with the times.

Contrary to popular belief Carhartt is not a company that makes only work wear clothing. A lot of the garments they manufacture can be considered, and used for casual use. They understand that their clientele branches beyond workers, so when they make new designs they take this into account.

Even though Carhartt can be worn as casual wear, it doesn’t mean it can’t also be used to work in.

Carhartt is producing new items, for both work and casual wear. Every day they are developing potential products to be shipped out and sold to the population. They are coming up with new designs every day; this is one thing that separated Carhartt from their competitors. Carhartt is making its way into the world of fashion, and soon you will see everyone and their mother with a Carhartt article on.

Now you can decide if you want to be a trend setter, or just plain old trendy
